Start on Sunday: Lesson 4 — The One Question That Predicts Whether Your Sunday Plan Survives the Week
The plan you wrote down Sunday was already broken by Wednesday — not because you're weak, but because you skipped the one question that would have caught it.
BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front):
Most Rebuilders set Sunday plans they don’t actually believe they can execute — then blame willpower when the plan falls apart by Wednesday.
The Confidence Ruler is a 30-second diagnostic from motivational interviewing (the technique your doctor uses) that catches a broken plan before Monday morning.
You don’t need a 10 — or even an 8. You need a 2-to-3-point bump from wherever you are right now. That’s the whole game.
Low confidence isn’t a willpower problem. It’s a knowledge or logistics problem — and logistics are fixable on Sunday.
Use the worksheet below: pick one specific behavior, rate your confidence, then identify what closes a 2-to-3-point gap before the week starts.

The Sunday Plan That Was Already Dead By Wednesday
It’s Sunday afternoon. The kids are watching a movie. You’ve got 20 minutes to yourself and a notebook open in front of you. You write down what next week is going to look like.
5 AM in the garage gym, four days. Upper body Monday and Thursday. Lower body Tuesday and Friday. Three eggs and two slices of turkey bacon at breakfast every morning. Skipping the beer Monday through Thursday. 10,000 steps daily. Lights out by 10 PM.
It feels good to write. It feels like control. It would be awesome if you could do all of this.
By Wednesday, the wheels are off. Upper body missed Monday because you slept through the alarm. Breakfast was coffee on Tuesday because the meeting got moved up. Wednesday night you had two beers because the day was a lot.
And here’s what happens next—the thing that matters more than the missed workouts: you tell yourself you’re not disciplined.
You’re not undisciplined. You set a plan you didn’t believe in.
There’s a simple question that would have caught it before the week started. One that takes about 30 seconds. And once you start using it, the gap between what you plan and what you actually do starts to close.
The Question
Pick one specific behavior you’re committing to this week. Be precise. Not “eat better”—something like “three eggs and two slices of turkey bacon at breakfast Monday through Friday.” Not “workout more”—”upper body lift Monday and Thursday, lower body Tuesday and Friday, 5:30 AM in the garage.”
You did this really well. Precision produces results. Don’t stop there.
Now ask yourself:
